❓ HOW HAVE I BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN THE AREA OF PHYSICAL HEALTH? ❓ Well…
– I have woken up early (to beat the heat) the past two summers to walk my neighborhood at least 3 times a week.
– I really enjoyed (I word I have never used regarding exercise) a weekly Zumba class when I lived in Santa Barbara.
– (Further back) I completed 4 sprint triathlons after the birth of each child.
– And I suppose carrying, birthing, nursing and raising 4 children, is a physical accomplishment I can take some credit for… 😉 (Now I’m viewing my body as a freaking rock star!)
❓ WHAT MOTIVATED ME IN THOSE PAST SUCCESSES THAT CAN BE TRANSFERRED TO THIS CURRENT SITUATION? ❓
– I think getting out of the house is a better way for me to enjoy exercise, so I should make that the norm and exercising at home, the exception.
– Being in God’s creation always helps lift my spirits. (Looking forward to my walk on the Camino de Santiago this Spring!!!)
– I think variety in exercise is actually good for me so I don’t get bored. Maybe I need to see it as a positive instead of a negative…
– I am definitely relationally motivated when I exercise. Being in a class of people who are doing it with me helps me push myself and complete the tasks.
– I think I am in a season of needing to pay someone who knows better than me to tell me what to do and to push and challenge me to go the extra mile or lift the extra weight.
– And I think I need to celebrate (and receive acknowledgement for) incremental accomplishments to motivate myself to keep going. So…
